Hockey Queensland (HQ) in partnership with Hockey Australia (HA) is seeking to improve facilities for hockey in Brisbane and secure a permanent infrastructure legacy from the Brisbane 2032 Olympic and Paralympic Games.

HQ is undertaking a feasibility study to present to Government which identifies the need, benefits, costs, location and essential infrastructure of a permanent venue which could enable the hosting of national and international events; better support HQ’s High Performance programs; create more playing and training opportunities for the Brisbane and SEQ hockey community; and provide a lasting legacy from the staging of the 2032 Olympic and Paralympic Games. Otium Planning Group has been engaged to undertake the feasibility study.

Understanding the current and future needs of the Brisbane hockey community is critical to this study.  To assist in gaining a stronger understanding of the Brisbane hockey needs, we are asking for volunteers (two each of current coaches, current players, current officiators,  current parents and current administrators for each session) to attend one of two Focus Group sessions with Otium. Sessions will be scheduled on two evenings, Tuesday 1 August (Downey Park) or Wednesday 2 August (SHC), commencing at 7.00pm.

It is important that we have a voice in our future and that each of our Clubs be represented in one of the categories where possible. We all have people who can make positive contributions to this discussion, so we ask that you give some thought to the nominations that you make.

Please indicate your interest to Kath Proctor at kathleen(dot)proctor(at)bwha(dot)com(dot)au by Friday 21 July, indicating your availability, your club, your status (coach, player, parent, officiator or administrator – you may indicate more than one category) and preference for venue. Further details will follow once session attendance is finalised.
