For those who may be interested in creating similar sites to this one for their Club, Association or Tournament, the following information may be of assistance.

The CMS (Content Management System) used here is Website Baker. This is also the CMS of choice for the BHA Website. Like most CMS's, Website Baker requires that your ISP can provide you with access to PHP and MySQL. BHA and this site are hosted by ByteSite - the Hockey friendly ISP.

Documents for the Website were prepared using OpenOffice.org (OOo) on both MSWindows and Linux platforms. OOo was used to produce the tournament program in its entirety. It was then exported directly from OOo in PDF format (an OOo feature) before being sent to a local Printer.

OOo is a complete open source office suite which is highly compatible with MSOffice. OOo can be downloaded for free from OpenOffice.org or it can often be found on the cover discs of computer magazines. OOo is available for most opertating systems including MSWindows, MacOS, Linux and others.

All Hockey photos used in the graphics of this Website were snapped by Lee Oliver.

Images were prepared and manipulated by me using either PaintShop Pro v8 (MSWindows) or using The GIMP (Linux). The GIMP is also available for MSWindows. KSnapshot was also used for some screen captures on the Linux system.

The Operating System used while carrying out the majority of the preparation work for this site was Kubuntu, an example of Linux at its best.

All of the software and the operating system used (except PSP v8 and MSWindows) are open source and are 'FREE', as in both meanings of the word. Further information may be obtained by contacting me through Brisbane Hockey Association Inc.
