Bulimba holds the outright competition lead for the first time this year after getting the better of Redcliffe Leagues. The Bulls won 5-1 at Mary Nairn Fields, to jump ahead of Labrador on the points table. Bulimba twice scored two goals five minutes apart, late in the first quarter through Cale Cramer and Michael Bates and then either side of halftime via Justin Douglas and Jack Baldwin. James Hawley scored in his 100th match for Redcliffe Leagues, while Beau Leadbetter also brought up 100 first-grade games for the peninsula side, 14 years after making his debut.

Four Jake Burns goals helped Commercial knock Labrador off the top of the ladder. It took Burns just three minutes to score first at Keith Hunt Park on the Gold Coast, before Josh McRae equalised for the home side, just three minutes after coming off the Tigerstix bench. Burns wrapped up his hat-trick by halftime and the Cobras led 3-1 at the main break. A crazy four minutes early in the fourth quarter saw four goals scored – two to each team – before Commercial’s Ian Schulz rounded out the scoring for a 6-4 win in game 150 for teammate James McAlpine.

Six Pine Rivers St Andrews players scored goals in a five-goal victory over Valley at Burringbar Park, a result that keeps the Saints in touch with the top five. The Saints opened the scoring through Jacob Anderson before Patrick Krusi equalised for Valley. Pine Rivers St Andrews went on to win the game 6-1 on the back of five unanswered goals. Zac Day and Liam de Young scored to give their side a 3-1 halftime lead, then Jason Hullick made it 4-1 at three-quarter time. Josh Mynott and Craig Smith completed the scoring for Saints, now three points behind fifth-placed Easts.

Another game, another two goals for Joel Rintala. He hit a double for the sixth time in seven weeks as University of Queensland defeated Norths 3-0 at the State Hockey Centre. The students’ goals came at intervals of 22 and 24 minutes. Rintala scored first in the 22nd minutes and University took a 1-0 lead into halftime. The Redmen doubled their lead 24 minutes later through Oliver Crane and Norths couldn’t score the game’s vital third goal. University sealed the win, and a share of second place, with Rintala’s penalty corner goal in the last minute.

Easts ended a rare run of two games without a win by edging past Kedron-Wavell 5-3 at Burringbar Park. The home side scored first after four minutes, through Matt Argent from a penalty corner play, before Easts’ Scott Boyde equalised ten minutes later. Easts extended to 4-1 before the Wolves got to within one goal after Lewis Fossey and Jacob Jennison scored, but a last-minute Kurt Ford strike sealed Easts’ win. Poor discipline cost Kedron-Wavell, which spent 21 minutes undermanned following yellow cards to Jennison and Tim Cullen and three green cards.
