It was the sixth time in eight matches that Valley has scored first, but the Diehards have lost all six of those games.

The returning Ryan Gibbs starred for Pine Rivers St Andrews as the Brendale-based club won its first game of the season on the road against Labrador. Playing his first match for the Saints in three years,

The home side led 2-1 at the end of the first quarter, following goals to Daniel Pritchard and David Halliday (Redcliffe Leagues) and Mitch Plos (Norths). Off-season recruit Christian Ramsay scored in the second and fourth quarters to seal the baysiders' win.

Penalty corner specialist Robert Bell scored twice for Easts, to take his season tally to seven goals from two games, as the Tigers beat University of Queensland 4-2. Easts led all the way at the Clem Jones Sports Centre, to record a 26th victory in the past 28 meetings with the students. Scott Boyde and Kurt Ford, a hat-trick hero against Valley the previous week, also scored goals for Easts, while Aidan Rintala and Drew Wenzel hit the target for University. Boyde and Rintala also scored in the last meeting between the two clubs.

Bulimba and Easts are the only unbeaten teams after two games, following the Bulls' 5-3 win over Commercial. The game at the State Hockey Centre was tied 1-1 at halftime following goals from Bulimba's ex-Commercial player Jacob Robertson and Cobras striker Kye Hawgood. The teams went goal for goal after halftime, to see the scores tied 2-2 after 47 minutes and 3-3 with 15 minutes remaining.
