BRISBANE HOCKEY LEAGUE - Round 2
Kedron-Wavell's Jacob Jennison celebrated his 150th first-grade match by scoring two goals, as the Wolves doubled up on Valley at Mary Nairn Fields. Valley scored first through Aidan Campbell and later led 2-1, but Kedron-Wavell scored five unanswered goals to storm home to win 6-3. Matt Argent scored two goals for Kedron-Wavell, while Daniel Springfield and German import Joel Ackerman also got on the Wolves' scorer's sheet. It was the sixth time in eight matches that Valley has scored first, but the Diehards have lost all six of those games.
The returning Ryan Gibbs starred for Pine Rivers St Andrews as the Brendale-based club won its first game of the season on the road against Labrador. Playing his first match for the Saints in three years, Liam de Young, the former Queensland Blades representative scored two goals in a 5-1 win on the Gold Coast. Liam de Young, Craig Smith and another returning player, Mitch Bolton, also scored goals for Pine Rivers St Andrews, which led 1-0 at halftime at Keith Hunt Park. Five of the game's six goals came in the final half hour of play.
David Halliday's goal scoring form continued as Redcliffe Leagues won its first game of the season. After scoring twice in his side's opening match of the year against University of Queensland, the veteran striker scored again as Redcliffe Leagues beat Norths 4-1 at Mary Nairn Fields. The home side led 2-1 at the end of the first quarter, following goals to Daniel Pritchard and David Halliday (Redcliffe Leagues) and Mitch Plos (Norths). Off-season recruit Christian Ramsay scored in the second and fourth quarters to seal the baysiders' win.
Penalty corner specialist Robert Bell scored twice for Easts, to take his season tally to seven goals from two games, as the Tigers beat University of Queensland 4-2. Easts led all the way at the Clem Jones Sports Centre, to record a 26th victory in the past 28 meetings with the students. Scott Boyde and Kurt Ford, a hat-trick hero against Valley the previous week, also scored goals for Easts, while Aidan Rintala and Drew Wenzel hit the target for University. Boyde and Rintala also scored in the last meeting between the two clubs.
Bulimba and Easts are the only unbeaten teams after two games, following the Bulls' 5-3 win over Commercial. The game at the State Hockey Centre was tied 1-1 at halftime following goals from Bulimba's ex-Commercial player Jacob Robertson and Cobras striker Kye Hawgood. The teams went goal for goal after halftime, to see the scores tied 2-2 after 47 minutes and 3-3 with 15 minutes remaining. Simon Borger's goal put the Bulls up again with seven minutes left, then Troy Elder sank another penalty corner goal after the fulltime siren.

Pine Rivers St Andrews 5 (Ryan Gibbs 2, Mitch Bolton, Craig Smith, Liam de Young) defeated Labrador 1 (Joe Reardon) at Keith Hunt Park, Labrador.
Redcliffe Leagues 4 (Christian Ramsay 2, Daniel Pritchard, David Halliday) defeated Norths 1 (Mitch Plos) at Mary Nairn Fields, Redcliffe.
Easts 4 (Robert Bell 2, Kurt Ford, Scott Boyde) defeated University of Queensland 2 (Aidan Rintala, Drew Wenzel) at the Clem Jones Sports Centre, Carina.
Bulimba 5 (Jacob Robertson, Joel Latham, Matt Rutter, Simon Borger, Troy Elder) defeated Commercial 3 (Jake Burns, Kye Hawgood, Tom Brough) at the State Hockey Centre, Colmslie.
