Brisbane Hockey Umpires
Your sport needs umpires! Our game cannot be played without them!
Umpiring?
- Are you an accredited Umpire?
- Do you wish to develop your Umpiring skills?
- Do you want to become an Umpire?
- Would you like to be paid to Umpire?
If you answered 'Yes!' to any of these questions then you need to contact the BHA Umpiring Committee to register your interest.
Register
Firstly you need to register as an active umpire for this season. Then we can provide you a development path with accreditation (if desired) or just appointments at your experience level, or both.
<-- Use the side menu for options.
HockeyEd
Please note that the current Hockey Australia - Hockey Ed Scheme does not automatically notify us of your Community badge registration and or qualification, this is a problem with Hockey Ed, so please tell us when you have registered, updated or completed any qualifications with Hockey Ed.
To get paid as a BHA umpire you do not necesarrily need to be registered with Hockey Ed you just need to follow our registration steps below.
BHA Registration
To register as an Active Brisbane Umpire please complete the following on-line Registration Form or send it to Umpires(at)BHA(dot)org(dot)au.
Even if you were an Active umpire last year, it is a requirement of Brisbane Hockey Association payments that we have your details and registration as a member this year.
Note that if you have not completed a Registration form you may not get paid for umpiring.
Active umpires are those people who register as a member and make themselves available for appointments on a regular basis by the umpire committee.
Once your are endorsed by the Umpiring Committee you will receive a BHA Umpire Registration Number and can officiate at BHA matches.
The Payments process has changed last season and requires that you complete a claim form for payment for any games you officiate as a registered umpire.
We suggest that you submit your claim form on a monthly basis, but it is up to you. Note that you may also wish to submit a ATO Form NAT 3346 Statement by Supplier form to BHA to comply with Tax laws. Please take note of the Payment Procedures for 2012 here.
Umpire Mentors
This season we are implementing a more comprehensive Umpire Mentor Scheme focusing on juniors (J1) development. This will involve some of our senior experience umpires providing formal feedback and coaching to developing umpires. Some of our umpires come with national and international experience, including Adam Kearns current FIH international, Steve Rodgers current Hockey Australia NHL umpire, Ben DeYoung current Hockey Australia NHL umpire, Alan Schasser former FIH International, Brian Harrison current Masters International, Ian Smith current masters International.
TV & YouTube
This year BHA and BWHA have invested in a new approach to broadcasting highlights from selected BHA and BWHA Division 1 matches and other Hockey related content on TV and via YouTube. Follow this Hockey Zone link to find out more.
BHL1 Match Reports
Links to BHL1 Match Reports will appear throughout 2012 under the 'Brisbane Hockey League' section. As in previous years, this initiative is spearheaded by Lee Oliver with assistance from volunteers, journalism students and hockey players. These reports also contain photos. A page of links to Hockey related content in the online Press will also be found there.
