About
The Brisbane Hockey League (BHL) is the Senior Men's Competition played on the artificial surfaces in and around Brisbane. BHL1 is the Association's Premier Division.
Fixtures
<- Please select "Next BHL Matches" from the side menu. This experimental page summarises the five BHL competitions and may take a few moments to load. If for any reason the page fails to load please use this link and use the 'drop-down' menu to select the individual competitions.
Hockey Australia (and Hockey Qld) have made it mandatory that all Associations make use of SportingPulse for their fixture draws. Please take the time to explore the SportingPulse interface so as to become familiar with its ideosyncrasies.
<- After selecting 'BHL Points Tables' from the side menu an experimental page summarising the tables for the five BHL competitions should appear. It may take a few moments to load. Please note that these tables are generated automatically from the results when entered. If for any reason one or more results have not been entered for a division then that particular table will not update. It is therefore important that all Match Sheets are returned to the Association promptly.
When using SportingPulse you can select another division from the drop-down menu within the SportingPulse window (or tab). You can also select 'Ladder' from the menu to view the Points Table for the currently displayed division.
Match Reports
Lee Oliver will once again be posting Match Reports, including photos, for the BHL1 competition here on this site. Use the side menu to select a match date. Lee will be assisted in this task by several volunteer journalism students and hockey players. Your Association asks that all players, coaches, managers and Club officials cooperate with Lee and his assistants at all times. Often, elements of these reports form the basis of articles that are submitted to the Press.
TV Coverage
BHA and BWHA have once again signed an agreement for a number their respective Division 1 matches throughout 2010 to be recorded and broadcast on 31 the Queensland Community Television (QCTV) network, formerly Briz31. Later in the year 31 (QCTV) is expected to go digital, which will almost certainly widen the audience. It is of paramount importance that all players, officials and supporters get behind this initiative and give it their full support.
BHL1 matches that are to be recorded and televised have been marked accordingly in the BHL1 Fixture Draw. 31 (QCTV) will be showing promotional adverts throughout each week, so make sure you tune in. Weekly program guides are also available from the 31 (QCTV) Website.
