Judiciary Outcomes
For some years BHA Judiciary Committee Hearing outcomes have been published on the BHA Website. It is thought that by doing so, players, officials and supporters can gain a better understanding of the consequences of unacceptable behaviour. Players' and officials' names and the names of the Clubs involved in each Hearing have been removed. The selection of outcomes listed here span several years. Click on a heading to read more . . .

07/12 Red Card - R3 Dissent/Abuse

Posted by Administrator (admin) on 28 Aug 2007
Judiciary Outcomes >>

During a BHL1 match a player received a Yellow Card for dissent. Some time after returning to the field the same player then received a Red Card for dissent/abuse. The matter was referred to the BHA Judiciary Committee for investigation.

The Judiciary Committee was satisfied that the player was guilty of dissent, albeit at the lower end of the scale. The Committee was of the opinion that as the player is a senior player in the team he is expected to set an example. It further noted that all players must realise that even if they believe the umpire has made a mistake the best policy is to accept the decision and get on with the game.

The player was found guilty as charged and his sentence reads as follows: "Suspended from matches under the auspices of Hockey Queensland for two (2) weeks but that sentence will itself be suspended until 30 June 2008 to the intent that it will not be activated unless the player is found guilty of any further offence within that period".
