My name is Kim Rendell and I have played Hockey since 1966. My early career was spent playing for Northern Suburbs Hockey Club. I eventually played in Norths' Division 1 Team for a couple of seasons before giving the game away. During the early eighties, and after moving to Logan City, I played a season with Eastern Suburbs Hockey Club for geographical reasons, before giving the game away again. The mid-eighties saw me recruited by South West United Hockey Club for three years, two of which I played Division 1. The middle year with SWU saw me as Captain/Coach of the Division 1 Team.
Due to family commitments I finished up with SWU and once again gave the great game away. However in 1991 my son Damien was asked by a school friend to play Soccer. This cannot be!! I was jolted in to action and I immediately contacted the local club, Logan Hockey Club. Both of my boys, Damien and Nathan went on to play for Logan as did my daughter, Kimberley. However, Kimberley played for only one season - she just liked the uniform! In 1992 I couldn't resist signing up for Logan's then top team, Division 3. I enjoyed several great seasons playing with Logan. I also coached Junior Teams - several even to Grand Finals.
By the mid-nineties I began playing Veterans Hockey (Over 40). I became a foundation member of Southbank Strikers Hockey Club, a non-aligned Club that will take anyone, no matter what their former Club!!! After eighteen years living in Woodridge, Logan City, I moved my family to Carina Heights. My boys began playing for Bulimba Hockey Club and I soon began coaching Junior Teams once again.
I have Managed and Coached several Brisbane Under 15 Representative sides to State Championships. In 1997 and 1999 I played representative Hockey for my State, Queensland, at Australian Veterans Hockey Championships. In 1997 I left my job at Telstra after some 24 years. In March 2000 I was appointed to the position of Brisbane Hockey Association, General Secretary.
I am currently playing Veterans Hockey for Southbank Strikers Hockey Club and Division 6 for Logan Hockey Club. In addition I also coach Bulimba Hockey Club's Under 17 Boys.
